Lloyd "Mac" McKinney
MARION-Lloyd "Mac" McKinney, 85, of Marion passed away at 11:30 AM, Monday, August 7, 2006 at Angel Acres in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Paul Ramsey and Reverend Mike Ebert officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Freedom Cemetery, south of Marion. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by Marion VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard.
Mr. McKinney was born April 24, 1921 in Williamson County, Illinois to Will and Alice (Dorris) McKinney. He married Alma Cardwell on January 18, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri; together they shared almost 60 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Alma of Marion; daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Bill Holmes and Marilyn and Larry Throgmorton all of Marion; grandchildren, Angela and Jeff Rushing, Matt and Cindy Throgmorton and Michael and Amanda Throgmorton; great grandchildren, Bethany Throgmorton, Brylee Throgmorton, Hunter Throgmorton, Colton Throgmorton and Abigail Grace Rushing due to arrive any day; sister, Afton Collier of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Judy McKinney and Nancy McKinney; brothers, Earl and Ralph McKinney; and sister, Mae Bader.
Mr. McKinney was a member of the First Church of God in Marion. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army, stationed in the Philippines. He worked as a tractor mechanic for 35 years before retiring. He loved to garden, hunt and fish.
He loved his family and he will be missed dearly.
