Anna-Linda F. (Lindy) Triest, 76, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019. She is finally at peace after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Lindy was born on May 26, 1943 in Geneva, IL to Henry and Virginia (Shaw) Triest. She grew up in St. Charles where she graduated from high school and Northern IL University. Lindy taught school in Lombard and Geneva.
She moved to Goreville in 1975 where she owned and managed Houghnhnm Stable. Lindy earned her Masters in Education at SIU at taught math and English at Carterville Junior High and High School until she retired.
Lindy loved animals and children. She was an active supporter of Southern Illinois Pony Club and her Labrador Retrievers competed in local dog show versatility classes. In her free time, she enjoyed cruising Lake of Egypt on her pontoon boat.
Lindy was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Virginia; step mother, Mary (Nelson) Triest and step sister, Lynda Vance.
She is survived by her sister, Julie Challis; brother, Stephen Triest; sister in law, Lynn Triest and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her dear friends, Carol Kenny and Kris Modine.
There will be no viewing or funeral services. Lindy’s ashes will be buried at the farm she so loved. She will live on in the hearts and minds of the many children that she inspired and taught and the memories of those that loved her dearly.
Blue Funeral Home in Goreville is assisting the family with arrangements.
