Creal Springs-Linda L. Hood, 72, formerly of Waltonville, IL, passed away at 11:40 am, August 6, 2018 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Creal Springs.
She was born on March 14, 1946 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to parents Wayman and Ada (Shannon) Brown. She first married, Robert L. Marshall, Sr., in 1963, and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2016. She later married Ronald L. Hood on August 22, 1996 and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2012.
Linda is survived by her son, Robert L. Marshall, Jr. and his wife Tracy, and daughter Janice Kissner and her husband, Rich. Grandchildren, Mathew Marshall, Allison Marshall, Nathaniel Marshall, Collin Marshall, Adam Gill and wife Haley, Brandon Gill, Tony Duran, Jessica Bowdler and husband, Drew, and Tinisha Olson. Great Grandchildren, Jacob Braden, Anthony Hanner, Braxton Olson, Kaylee Bowdler and Jasey Bowdler. Sister, Wanda Summers, sisters in law Doris Brown and Caroline Brown, Step daughter, Cindy Cronin, her husband Joe and their children Conner and Kaelyn, and step son Jeff Hood (Alissia Krug) and their children Tyler and Atiana. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her parents, step-father Albert Stewart, husband Ronald Hood and former husband Robert Marshall, Sr., three brothers, Charles Brown, Bud Brown and Nolan Brown, infant brother Marvin Ray Brown, beloved sister Phyllis Marshall and infant Great Grandson Remington Bowdler preceded her in death.
Linda was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She worked for many years at Caterpillar in Joliet, and she was able to enjoy a long retirement. She and her husband Ron enjoyed fishing and camping and she was a talented painter. Linda handled her illness with grace and kindness towards everyone around her, and was loved by all of those lucky enough to know her. Her loving ways, as well as her kind and generous spirit will be missed, but will live on in the hearts and minds of her loved ones.
Per Linda's wishes, there will be no service. There will be a celebration of life hosted by the family at a later date. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
