Lillian Jensen-Higgerson CARTERVILLE-Lillian Jensen-Higgerson, 87, of Carterville passed away at 6:25 PM, Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM, until time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Lillian was born on November 23, 1920 in Stavanger, Norway to Hans and Grethe (Josdal) Jensen. She married Don Higgerson on January 23, 1947 in Marion; he preceded her in death on May 24, 1998. Survivors include son, Steve Higgerson of Carterville; daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Arnie Allen of Chesterfield, Missouri; son, Tom Higgerson of Iceland; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Ann Higgerson of Florence, Kentucky; grandchildren, Abby and Dave Carlisle, Emily Allen and fiancé, Dan Bardon, and Gracie Allen; step-grandson, Steve Norman; step-great granddaughter, Abbie Lynn Norman; and brother and sister-in-law, George and Rose Marie Jensen of Herrin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and step-grandson, Michael Norman. Lillian came to this country when she was almost 4 years old from Norway. She worked as a secretary at SIU in the Linguistics Department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carterville, and the Ladies Home Extension. She loved to read, paint, cook and take care of her family.
