Leroy Dupes
MARION-Leroy Dupes, 70, of Marion passed away at 1:15 AM, Monday, August 25, 2008 at his home after a long 14 year battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Dan Whitfield officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois because of the wonderful care and beautiful people who took care of him; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Dupes was born November 20, 1937 in Vonore, Tennessee to Elmer and Nell (Donaldson) Dupes. He married Carol Pump-Krider on April 12, 1971.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sue and Cohlyn and Lori; daughter, Bliss and brother Brendan; grandchildren, Carrie, Ashley, Jacob, Caleb and Noah; great grandchild, Alyssa; brothers, Fred and Linda and Bud and Helen; sisters, Mary and Bonnie Hugh Gentry, Myrtle Wilson and Doris and Tom Butler; many nieces, nephews and friends; mother-in-law, Marie Pump; sister-in-law, Shirley and George Chaltin; and former wife, Eileen Leslie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Lindy; brothers, Ed and Bill; and sister, Juanita.
Leroy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved fishing, boating and spending time with his neighbors. He never met a stranger. His honorary title from the guys was Mayor of Clifty Heights, while his friend Richard is Chief of Police. We could not have been in better hands.
