Laura "Peanut" Dirks MARION-Laura "Peanut" Dirks, 41, of Marion passed away at 7:25 AM, Monday, August 25, 2008 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Todd Griener officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Laura was born on September 26, 1966 in Marion, Illinois the daughter of Lowell L. Mocaby and Barbara G. Curry. Laura was raised by her mother and step-father, James E. Bourland. She married Alan T. Dirks. Survivors include her husband, Alan; daughters, Nichole L. Dirks and Tiffiany J. Dirks and partner John Rose; son, Brockton J. Dirks; grandsons, Gage Alan Dirks, Aidyn T. Rose and Brayland C. Rose; her mother, Barbara Bourland; her siblings, Rebecca Bourland, Valerie and Steve Fry, Debbie and Rick Atkisson, Bill and Beverly Bourland, Tim Mocaby, John Mocaby and James and Kim Bourland; step-sister, Cynthia and Terry Huey; brother-in-law, Richard and Pat Dirks; a loving family of in-laws; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by father, Lowell Mocaby; step-father, James E. Bourland; and brother, Tom Mocaby. Laura was involved in food service and owned and operated two cafes and a catering business in Florida. She loved babies, sunflowers and dragonflies. Laura was a survivor, whose courage was an inspiration to many. She was our “Hero”!
