On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, Larry Ray Murphy, loving husband and father of five beautiful children, lost his fight to Lymphoma. He is now resting in Heaven with his best horse, Kameo and dog, Sheba. They are watching over the loved ones they left behind.
Larry was born on March 29, 1965 to Lawrence and Barbara Murphy. He graduated from Marion High School in 1983. On August 2, 1995, he married Amanda and together they raised one daughter, Brittany and four sons, Dalton, Tod, Jakob and Garret.
Many knew him as “Murph.” He was laid back and had a passion for horses that he shared with his daughter. Larry loved to ride and trained many horses over his lifetime. He was at his happiest when working with his horses. Larry passed on that love to his daughter who was so inspired to pursue a career in the field. He always loved the outdoors, one of his favorite things to do was to go camping. There were many family vacations that involved going to the 9-day trail ride to camp and ride his heart out.
He is survived by his wife Amanda of Creal Springs; his five children, Brittany, Dalton, Tod, Jakob and Garret; son in law, Neil Bradshaw; one grand dog, Waylon and his many four-legged children (horses/dogs) as well as his many loving friends and family.
Larry is preceded in death by his father; uncle, Rex Murphy; cousin, Tod A. Murphy and his grandparents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 1pm at Community of Faith Church in Marion. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Larry’s life.
Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, those attending are asked to follow social distancing guidelines and the wearing of masks is encouraged.
Donations may be sent to the church: PO Box 1663, Marion, IL 62959.
