Larry Joseph Stanton

Marion Larry Joseph Stanton, 62, of Marion passed away surrounded by family at his home on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Marvin McComas and Reverend Ed Martin presiding. A time of gathering for family and friends will precede the funeral service starting at Noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Stanton will be cremated per his wishes after his memorial services have concluded. Memorial donations are suggested to the family to help in offsetting Mr. Stanton’s medical costs. Larry was born in Murphysboro, one of 16 children, to Thomas & Ethel (Harris) Stanton on Tuesday, November 22, 1949. He married Sandra Little on Saturday, July 5, 1997 at Whiteash Community Church; they had just celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary. Larry is survived by his loving wife Sandra; children, Donnie & Tierny Stanton of Bartonville, Howie & Robin Stanton of Tremont, Trisha & Brian Phemister of Marion, Andrew Allison of Marion, Diana & Gabe Kosco of Marion; siblings, Nadine Miller of Murphysboro, Pat Grammer of Marion, Vicky McGhee of Carbondale, Debra Sykes of Carterville, Jeanie & Tom Gummersheiner of Texas, Claude & Fay Stanton of Murphysboro, James Stanton of Murphysboro, Ronald & Mary Stanton of Murphysboro and Robert & Peggy Stanton of Tennessee; grandchildren, Brennan, Taylor, Molly, Steven, Nicolas, Gabriel, Brencen, Drake, Skye, Chandler, Jaycob, Benjamin, Brooklynn and Isabella. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Susie Gill, Edna Robinson, Bessie Mydler, Tommy Stanton, Marvin Stanton and John Stanton. Mr. Stanton owned Stanton’s Home Improvements. His true passion was for music; he was a wonderful musician. He played with Craig’s Country Band; playing lead and bass guitar, country and gospel music. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. His memory will live on with the people whose lives he touched. He will be missed.
