Lael Otto Garner
MARION-Lael Otto Garner, 79, of Marion passed away at 8:05 PM, Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Davis Prairie Cemetery, east of Marion with Reverend Brent Fitzgerald officiating. There will be no visitation. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Memorials may be made to Davis Prairie Cemetery; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Garner was born on December 12, 1926 in Onarga, Illinois to Virgil and Lora (Hood) Garner. He married Dorothy (Lucas) Zoeller on January 15, 1975.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Gaile Garner of Rosemond, Paul and Caroline Garner of St. Cloud, Florida, Roger and Sheryl Garner of Saunemin, and Alan and Fe Garner of San Diego, California; daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Garner of San Francisco, California and Cathy and Charles Maubach of Odell; sixteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; step-daughter and husband, Darlene and Gail Blumenstock of Pittsburg; step-grandchildren, Kacy Blumenstock, Krista and Reverend Cory Cartwright, Jena Blumenstock, Jeanetta Bammann, Mark Zoeller, Robert Gulley and Brian Gulley; and three step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers; and one granddaughter.
Mr. Garner worked in construction as a drywall finisher. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II. He formerly attended the Christian Life Center in Herrin.
