Kenneth J. Martin LAKE OF EGYPT-Kenneth J. Martin, 78, of the Lake of Egypt passed away at 9:20 PM, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. There will be no visitation. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with the arrangements. Kenneth was born January 28, 1931 in Bradley, Illinois to Lester and Bernice (DeMarah) Martin. He married Sharon Nickel on November 3, 1956 in Bourbonnais; together they shared 53 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Martin; his children, Elaine and Joseph Lipczynski, James and Karen Martin, Nancy and Guy Host and John and Kathy Martin; grandchildren, Jason Martin, Tara Martin, Jacob Martin, Amanda Host, Nicholas Host, Christopher Martin and Bradley Martin; sisters, Delma Burkhalter and Anita Kemnitz; and brother, Bernard “Whitey” Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Martin; daughter, Anita Martin; and sister, Clarice Ulvestad. Kenneth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a retired carpenter, having worked many years in the Chicago area. He served his country with the United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
