CREAL SPRINGS-Katherine Louise Henny Holmes, 69, of Creal Springs passed away at 7:30 AM, Sunday, January 4, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Matt Troxel and Reverend Gaylon Parks officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery, Creal Springs. Mrs. Holmes was born March 21, 1939 in Williamson County, Illinois to Carl and Violet (Marks) Stokes. She married Douglas Gib Holmes on July 31, 1953 in Shawneetown; together they shared 55 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Gib Holmes of Creal Springs; her children, Noble and Lori Holmes of Creal Springs, Vicki and Doug Babb of Pittsburg, Lisa and Harry Simpson, Doug and Leisa Holmes, Jimmie and Marcy Holmes and Michael and Jeanie Holmes all of Creal Springs; grandchildren, Charles Holmes, Barry and Christy Holmes, Jason and Carrie Pritchett, Detsonie Davis, Brian and Amber Holmes, Garry and Stacey Simpson, Doug and Johnna Holmes, Dustin and Molly Holmes, Derrick and Jessica Holmes, Amanda and Ricky Hilliard, Megan Pritchett, Britiney Allgaier, Austin and Nikki Holmes, Zach Holmes, Whitney Holmes, Sarah Holmes, Ashton Holmes, Noah Holmes and Jordan Holmes; sixteen great grandchildren; her mother, Violet Segers; brother, Jeff Stokes; sisters, Mary Sue Phillips and Sandy McCoy; and special friend, Norma Baker.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Stokes; sons, Gilbert Eugene Holmes, Donald Fred Holmes and Randal Keith Holmes; grandchildren, Chad Holmes and RaeDonna Holmes; sister, Violet Lea Smith; grandparents, Jim and Mary Marks; and step-father, Nople Segers.
Mrs. Holmes attended Bethel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and spent most of her life as a caregiver for others. She enjoyed fishing.
Her family was her life and she loved them dearly.
