Marion-Joyce E. Cato, 69, passed away at 9:45am on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Joyce was born on August 6, 1944 in Carbondale to D.W. and Verna (Morgan) Pryor. She married Max Cato on September 26, 1960 in Herrin. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2006. Joyce enjoyed hanging with the girls from the American Legion Auxiliary and loved to take trips with her best friend, Phylis Rath. Survivors include: Grandchildren: Nicki and Toby Holmes Ashleigh Cato Stacy Cato Great grandchildren: River Holmes Brooks Holmes Sisters: Gloria Cato Maxine Whitely Judy McCrutchfield Daughter-in-law- Shannon Cato She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Jerry Cato and Gary Cato; grandson, Jacob Cato and sister, Phylis Jones Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Roy Pepmiller officiating. Burial will follow at Cana Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Monday from 9am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959.
