MARION- John W. Moulton, 83, of Marion passed away at 3:45 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2005 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Chaplain Glenn Sanders officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Mr. Moulton was born on January 10, 1922 in Marion, Illinois to Emit and Laura (Mitch) Moulton. He married Maxine Followell on September 27, 1942 in Marion and she survives. Other survivors include son, Terry L. Moulton of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Dycus of Marion; son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Rosa Moulton of Marion; three grandchildren, Robbie Dunn, Alexis Moulton and Evan Dycus; sister and brother-in-law, Jim and Mary Helen Rice of Indiana; niece, Pauline Pulley of Marion; and nephew, Michael Rice of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Faye; sister, Lavera Moulton; and two infant brothers. John served his country in the United States Army during World War II with the 1st Calvary, Troop F. He served in Australia, New Guinea, Admiralty Island, Philippines, and in Japan. During that time he received a Purple Heart and four Oak Clusters. John was known to his friends and family as `J.W.` or `Big John`. He enjoyed fishing and designing his own lures. He spent his time, after serving his country, by raising his family and working his farm. He worked at the V.A. Hospital for 30 years as a guard, an electrician and as a medical equipment repairman. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hearth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 5:24)
