John W. Geittmann Marion- John W. Geittmann, born December, 21, 1925 in Beaver Dam, WI to Elmer T. & Leona (Allen) Geittmann was called into Heaven by his Lord on December 17, 2010 at 10:51 AM at the Marion Veterans Affairs Medical Center surrounded by his wife and children. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion with the Reverend John Holst officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. John married Myrna Cooper on July 2, 1949 in Piggott AR. Together they shared 61 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Suzanne Lowery; sons, J. Greg Geittmann and Bill Geittmann all of Marion; grandchildren, Geoff Geittmann, Shawn Norman, Will Geittmann, Heather Geittmann and Heidi Geittmann; great-grandchild, Autumn Norman; sister, Lorraine Geittmann; niece, Jodi Geittmann; nephew Rick Geittmann and many life long friends. John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, E. Charles Geittmann. John was a retired insurance adjustor and also worked as a radio announcer for many years. He was a proud 1944 graduate of Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO and also attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a very dedicated long time member of the Zion United Church of Christ. John was well thought of among his family and friends. He was always willing to tell a story or joke. He loved his family most of all, and always was going above and beyond the call.
