John Robert Jones

Marion- John Robert Jones, 49, of Marion, passed away at 11:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2013 at his home in Marion. John Robert was born on September 25, 1964 in White Sands, NM to Jackie Dale and Katharina (Gemroth) Jones. He owned “Bobbies” restaurant in Galatia for several years before more recently working as a truck driver for local contractors.  He was a funny man with a keen sense of humor who enjoyed playing pranks and tricks on his loved ones and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing for catfish with his son at local lakes and ponds.  He and his son also had a shared passion for video games and John helped develop the online game “Martial Hero’s”.  He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him. Survivors include- Son- Peyton Jones and fiancé Serissa Garcia of West Frankfort Son-Allen Christopher Weeks of New Jersey Granddaughter- Sophia Rose Jones of West Frankfort Sister- Rina Dean and partner Richard Overby of Durham, NC Sister- Louann Helmstetter and husband Eric of Seattle, WA Sister- Linda Nellborn and husband Christin of Sweden Three Nieces and Four Nephews Several great nieces and nephews and many cousins He was preceded in death by his parents and sister- Betty Wheeler. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.  Blue Funeral Home in Marion assisted the family with memorial arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to the family for a college fund for his precious granddaughter- Sophia Rose Jones and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N.
