Marion-John E. Piper, 89, passed away at 2pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at his home. John was born on December 14, 2014 in Kinmundy, IL to Paul W. and Addie (Burton) Piper. He married Joyce Minton-Killman. She survives of Marion. John retired from the Union Pacific Railroad Company after 44 years as a Railroad Supervisor. He was the last agent when they quit having passenger trains in Marion. John enjoyed model railroading. He was past active member of the Kiwanis Club of Marion and the Lions Club in Kinmundy. Survivors include: Wife-Joyce Piper of Marion Son-Larry & Virginia Piper of Belleville Daughter-Jean & Dale Martin of Mulkeytown Stepchildren: Lori & Kevin McClellan of Cypress Keith Killman of Marion Grandchildren: Stephanie & Matt Harrison Patrick & Juliana Piper Sara Vincent Mandie & Jay Bagwell Justin Ballard Several great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Marsha Killman-Bigler; one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 1pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Scott Kallem officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will also be on Friday, from 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
