John Daniel Burton Marion—John Daniel Burton, 54, of rural Marion passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 12:00 AM with his wife at his side. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery-Bell Smith Springs-Shawnee National Forest, south of Harrisburg. Visitation will be on Friday evening, January 18, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes will be available during services or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. John was born in Paris, TN to Jacob Robert & Mabel (Bell) Burton on Saturday, October 18, 1958. He married Karla (Lee) Parks and she survives of Marion. Mr. Burton is survived by his wife, Karla; children, Jason & Cassie Emerson, John & Chelsea Emerson and Matthew & Valerie Jones; step-children, Jason & Kami Parks and Krystal & Christopher Gage; grandchildren, Nathan Emerson, Brookelyn Emerson, Miley Emerson, Bentley Emerson, Zachary Jones, Addison Emerson, Reagan Parks and Gracie Gage; siblings, Robert Samuel Burton, Mark Burton, Glenda Smallwood, Martha Millikan, Becky & James McHughen, Sheila & Clyde Hunt and Jeanette & Steve Gardner. John was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob & Mabel and siblings, Emmett Burton, Phyliss Jean Daniels and Clara May Burton. Mr. Burton had recently retired from Marion Federal Penitentiary. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, fishing and farming. John loved riding his motorcycle with his family and friends. John most loved traveling with his wife and spending precious time with his grandchildren.
