MARION- John H. Balster, 64, passed away at 3:26 PM on June 30th, 2011 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
John was born on November 22, 1946 in Beardstown, IL to Henry E. and Alberta (Jurgens) Balster. He married Jolene McKeighen and together they have shared forty two wonderful years. He was a Vietnam era Air Force Veteran who was fortunate enough to be stationed in Hawaii for three years until his honorable discharge in 1971.
He began his career working the washer and dryer line at Norge in Herrin. Next he worked several years as the assistant manager of Do It Yourself Home Center and later worked eighteen years as a copier salesman before settling into a longtime position in the electric department of Lowes.
He and Jolene had a ministry at Big Muddy Prison for thirteen years. He was a member of the Southern Illinois Worship Center and the Honda Gold Wing Riders Association
In his spare time he enjoyed riding Honda Red Wing Motorcycles and playing games of strategy, driving go-carts and playing miniature golf. He had a great sense of humor and was quite the prankster. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John, May you live to be a 100 and may I live to be 100 minus one day because I do not want to live one day with out you.

Wife- Jolene Balster of Marion
Son- Brad Balster of Boston, MA
Brother-in-law and wife Ronnie and Lori McKeighen of Dallas, TX
A niece and nephew
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister- Eula Roberts.
According to his wishes, Mr. Balster will be cremated and the family will hold private services at a later date. Memorial arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home in Marion.
