JoAnn Nicholson

JoAnn Nicholson, age 76, of Marion, Illinois,  passed away at 11:45am on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Herrin Hospital.

JoAnn was born January 15, 1946 in Scottsboro, Illinois, a daughter of Sylvester and Roccile (Garris) Dalton. She married the love of her life, Edward Eugene Nicholson, Sr. on April 03, 1963 in the Scottsboro Church of God.  JoAnn proudly worked alongside her husband as the manager of the Checker Oil Company. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, JoAnn will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her. 

She is survived by six children, Edward Eugene (Nita Longworth) Nicholson Jr., LeRoy (Mary) Nicholson, Peppy William (Tracy) Nicholson, Jason Leon (Jennifer) Nicholson, Amanda Gaile (B.J.) Prowell, and Stormy JoAnn (Gabe) Benton; three siblings, Brenda (Mickey) Shackles, Sue (Johnnie) Choate, and Vester (Mary) Dalton; numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, and several Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Eugene Nicholson Sr.; one grandson, Levi Carter Benton; her parents, Sylvester Lee and Roccile (Garris) Dalton; and four siblings, May Henderson, Ollie Marie Choate, Georgia Ann Parks, and Johnny Edward Dalton.

Visitation will be Friday, July 8th, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 8, 2022, 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home with Pastor John Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at White Ash Cemetery.
