Jewel L. Lollar MARION-Jewel L. Lollar, 85, of Marion passed away at 2:41 AM, Friday, July 4, 2008 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Pittsburg Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Donelson, Reverend Ivan Ryan and Reverend Glenn Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the church. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant “Poordo” Cemetery. Military rites will be given at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Memorials may be made to Pittsburg Free Will Baptist Church building fund; envelopes will be available at the church or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Lollar was born April 12, 1923 in Corinth, Illinois to Segal and Ava (Beers) Lollar. He married Mary Helen Stephenson on June 5, 1948 in Marion; together they shared 60 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen of Marion; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Kelley Wall and Gayla and Loren Taylor all of Marion; grandchildren, Anita and Brent Gentry, Joe and Erica Blumenstock, Angela and Andy Randolph, Shannon Taylor, Chad Wall, Todd Wall and Lindsey Taylor; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hannah and Heidi Gentry, Joseph, Joshua and Jackson Blumenstock, Gunner Wall, Addy and Ashton Randolph and a great grandchild expected in November; sisters and brother-in-law, Opal and Marion Stephenson and Anna Mae Motsinger all of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Lollar worked as an underground coal miner for 38 years. He was an ordained Free Will Baptist Minister and pastored in many area churches including Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist, Smarts Chapel, two different times at Plasters Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Benton/West City and Saline Mines Church at New Shawneetown. He was currently an active member of Pittsburg Free Will Baptist Church. He served his country during World War II with the United States Navy as a First Class Seaman. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. Jewel enjoyed daily studying from God’s word, reading religious literature and sharing God’s love with others. His first love was God, family and country. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
