Jerry Lee Cato MARION–Jerry Lee Cato, 47, of Marion passed away at 7:37 AM, Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Keith Heberer officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the funeral home. Military Rites will be preformed at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Cato was born on December 3, 1961 in Guam to Max and Joyce (Pryor) Cato. Survivors include his mother, Joyce Cato of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Nicki and Toby Holmes of Kingsland, Georgia; daughter, Stacy Cato of Marion: grandchildren River Holmes and Brooks Holmes; brother Gary and Shannon Cato of Fayetteville, North Carolina; niece, Ashleigh Cato; special friends, Mike Berry and SusAnna Cook; and the mothers of his children Janice Hopkins and Joyce Cato. He was preceded in death by his son Jacob Cato and father Max Cato. Mr. Cato retired after twenty years of service in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronic Technician 1st class. He loved to fish and spend time with his family. He was a member of the Marion V.F.W., Marion American Legion, and the Elks. He was a former Little League Coach and Cub Scout Master. Jerry will be missed by all who knew him.
