Carbondale-Jerry Dean Hale, 64, of Carbondale, passed away at 6:52 AM on Friday, October 7, 2011 in Herrin Hospital. Memorial services are to be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 starting at 3:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Danny Boyd officiating. An hour visitation will precede the memorial starting at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the family; envelopes are available during the services or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. J.D. was born on October 12, 1946 in Carbondale to Chester & Margaret (Casper) Hale. He married Sarah Simmons in 1986 in Marion. Survivors include his loving wife, Sarah; children, Christina & Darrell Johnson of Murphysboro, Tammy & David Cashion of Elkville, Chester & Amanda Hale of Colp and Phillip & Gloria Hale of Marion; adopted sons, Corienthus Bevely of Colp, Jerry Shepard of Florida, Richard Parker of Benton and Terry Crowell of Creal Springs; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford Hale of KY, Steve Hale & John Hale, both of Carterville and Kenneth Hale of Marissa; sisters, Elaine Hale of Carbondale, Sharon Hale of Carterville and Marylynn Hale of Sparta; several nieces and nephews & ex-daughter-in-law, Terri Stinett. J.D. was preceded in death by his parents and beloved son “Little J.D.”. J.D. was a member of Carbondale Pentecostal Church and the Carbondale Eagles. He dearly loved his grandchildren and his horses. In passing J.D. left two special messages: “To My Loving Wife, Sarah, I would like to thank you for always having my back.” And “To My 2 Beloved grandsons, Jack & Corey, Strive to always do your best.” J.D. will be missed by all who knew him.
