Jeffrey D. Edwards. Sr.

Pittsburg Jeffrey D. Edwards, Sr., 53 of Pittsburg, passed away at 8:20 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion with his wife by his side. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Grange Hall Church on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Kevin McNeely officiating. A time of gathering for family and friends will precede the memorial on Friday starting at 11:00 AM at the church. Memorial donations are suggested either to the Lighthouse Shelter or Gum Drops: Southern Illinois Child Food Program. Jeff was born in Herrin on Thursday, November 5, 1959 and was raised by loving parents, Nancy (Strunk) & Paul Edwards. He married Elizabeth Taylor on Saturday, December 10, 1977 in Herrin. They had just celebrated 35 years of marriage. Jeffrey is survived by his parents, Nancy & Paul Edwards of Marion; wife, Liz of Pittsburg; children, Jeffrey & Johnie Edwards, Jr. of Carbondale and Amy & Adam Fosse of Marion; grandchildren, Taylor, Bailey and Avahlyn; sister, Jane & David Watson of Grand Chain; step-0brother, Paul & Sylvia Edwards of Johnston City and extended Kahele family. He was preceded in death by his birth father, Peter Kahele and step-brother, Matt Edwards. Jeffrey worked as a construction supervisor and was extremely dedicated to work. He wanted to ensure a comfortable and stable life for his family. Jeff loved hitting the open road on his beloved Harley Davidson, with his true love, Liz. When he was not working or riding his motorcycle, Jeff loved spending time with his family, notably his grandchildren. He is leaving behind a very loving and devoted family as well as several good friends.
