Jeannie Marie Cook

Jeannie Marie Cook, age 79, of Goreville, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Herrin Hospital.

Jeannie was born December 19, 1944 in Carbondale, Illinois, a daughter of Hugh and Betty (Crawshaw) Hiller. Jeannie grew up in Goreville, IL and graduated Goreville High School. She earned her Bachelors Degree from SIU. She worked at SIU as a Secretary for 39 years in the Art Dept and later for the Upward Bound Program. When she was younger, she loved photography and volunteered as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and 4H Leader. Later in life she enjoyed crafting and loved her cats. She married Charles C. Cook on October 13, 1992 in Goreville, IL. He passed away in May 1997. She was a member of Goreville Methodist Church where she played the piano for several years.

She is survived by two children, Jamie (Amanda) Ward of Goreville, IL and Katie (Joshua) Buchanan of Energy, IL; five grandchildren; and three siblings, Jonathan Hiller of Anna, IL, Howard (Theresa) Hiller of SC, Carol (Wendel) Loban of ID, and a brother-in-law Burle Osterhout of Vienna, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Cook; her parents, Hugh and Betty Hiller; and one sister, Mary Osterhout.

Private funeral services will be held for Jeannie Cook.
