Marion-Jean D’Etta Canterbury, 69, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at her home.
Jean was born on December 23, 1949 in French Camp, CA to James and Audrey May Etta Howze; the granddaughter of D’Etta Jane Peterman. Jean was married to Vance Canterbury, of North Carolina, who preceded her in death and then was married to Jerry Ray Almaroad of Marion, who also preceded her in death. She had one son, Caleb Canterbury.
Jean is survived by her niece, Penny Marie Campbell; great niece, Audrey Plath; great nephew, Walker Plath and one great-great niece, Stella Kay.
Jean was a nurse and a volunteer for the Marion VA Hospital and for Hospice of Southern Illinois. After retirement, she was a homemaker. Jean gave of herself over the years to many. At one time, she was an avid horse woman. Jean loved gardening, music, dancing and many crafts and dogs.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother; husband, Vance Canterbury and husband, Jerry Almaroad and son, Caleb Canterbury.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 1pm at Friendship Cemetery in Goreville with Matthew Dryden officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
