MARION - Janice A. Porter, known to everyone as "Aunt Janice," 69, passed away at 2:01 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Janice was born July 31, 1943, in Jackson County, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Johnson) Fox. Her father passed away in World War II in 1944. Her mother then married Leon Webb, who raised Janice.
She married Kenneth Ray Porter on Oct. 31, 1964, in Benton, and he preceded her in death April 5, 2011.
She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Marion. Janice taught Sunday school. She was a homemaker and loved gardening and taking care of her great-granddaughter, Ariel.
Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth O'Connor of Marion; son, Kenneth Ray and Dena Porter Jr. of Hurst; grandchildren, Robyn Childress and Steven O'Connor of Marion and Emma Porter of Hurst; great-granddaughter, Ariel Francis of Marion; sister, Sonja Fleming; several nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Steven Webb.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, in Community Christ Church in Marion. Burial will be in Webb Cemetery in Tunnel Hill. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
