James T. Garrison MARION-James T. Garrison, 69, of Marion passed away at 4:05 PM, Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held at 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Elder Gordon Rhine officiating and Jim Bleyer giving the eulogy. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:30 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, American Cancer Society or Community of Christ Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Jim was born on January 23, 1941 in Carbondale to Norbert C. and Martha (Aikman) Garrison. He married Emma Lou Kobler on July 7, 1962 in Marion; and she survives. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Tatia and Mitch Strang of Marion; son, Jared Garrison of Marion; grandchildren, Jesse Strang and Josie Strang; sister, Kay Church of West Palm Beach, Florida; nephew, Bart Church of Oregon; and “Jakob” his beloved Poodle. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jan Church. Jim attended the Community of Christ Church in Marion. He graduated from Chicago Kent College of Law. He was a partner with his father at Garrison and Garrison in Marion and a longtime City Attorney for the City of Marion. He was past President of the Marion Park District for 20 years, past umpire for Little League, a member of Masonic Lodge 89 AF & AM, a member of the Williamson County Shrine Club and Elks BPOE #800. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and carpentry.
