James Ronald Joyner

James Ronald “Ron” Joyner, 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

Ron was born on September 23, 1947 in Carbondale to Paul M. and Nita Jo (Webb) Joyner. He married Jean Ann Hunt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DuQuoin on September 23, 1978.

Ron was Treasurer for the City of Marion and was involved with Marion athletics including announcing for the Wildcats basketball, football, and track and field for over thirty years.

Wife-Jean Joyner of Marion

Daughter-Amy Williams (Jon) of St. Louis, MO

Son-Paul D. Joyner (Rachelle) of Marion

Son-Nick Joyner (Catherine) of Marion

Grandchildren:

Audrey Williams of St. Louis, MO

Hailee Joyner of Columbia, MO

Sophia and Olivia Joyner of Marion

Brother-Howard Joyner (Lynetta) of Marion

Sister-Susan Freeland (Paul) of Peachtree City, GA

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Outdoor graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery on Saturday, January 16th at 12:30pm. Please wear face masks and practice social distancing. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church and/or the Chornak Fund at the Marion High School.
