James Miller MARION- James Miller, 76, of Marion passed away at 10:35 PM, Monday, April 3, 2006 at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. John Simpson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Marion. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Miller was born on March 18, 1930 in Wayne County, Illinois to Samuel Gordon and Jennie (Banta) Miller. He married Seva Nelson on December 4, 1975 in Piggott, Arkansas, she preceded him in death on February 13, 2005. Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and June Miller of Fairfield; sisters, Mary Davis of Flora, Veda Miller of Delavan, Wisconsin and Louise Hendrix of Decatur, Alabama; local nieces and nephews, Betty Deaton, Diane and Jerry Pritchett, Delaina and John Katubig, Robin and Col. Jerry Meyer, Curt and Tina Deaton and Darin and Karen Sigler; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and sister, Phyllis McCarty. Mr. Miller worked as a driver for Edwards-Etherton Oil Company for many years. He served his country during World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War as a member of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Odd Fellows Lodges of both Marion and Carbondale, he was a past State Officer for the Odd Fellows, a member of the Patriarch Militant Branch of the Odd Fellows and the Marion Rebekah Lodge 93. He was of the Protestant faith. The family would like to thank the Carrier Mills Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to James.
