Marion- JAMES BUBO MARTIN, 74 of Marion passed away August 13, 2011 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services for Mr. Martin will be held at Blue Funeral Home in Marion on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 10:30am. A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16th from 5-8pm at the funeral home; Fred Motsinger will be officiating. Bubo was born June 12, 1937 in Marion to James and Lucille (Samples) Martin. He married Brenda Gambill on June 12, 1960 in Marion; they had just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
He is survived by son James Derrick Martin and girlfriend Karen Hamlow, of Keller, TX and his adopted children, Jessica Lenon and husband Chad, and Chelsea Deaton; special adopted granddaughter Addi Mae Lenon; brothers Bill & Glenda Martin of Murphysboro, Paul & Patsy Martin of Marion; sister Julia Boyt of Marion, and sister-in-law Patsy Sneed of Lansing, KS. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bubo worked for Mayer Brothers Motor Sales, Toyota and was the owner of Jims Texaco, and worked for Freeman United Coal Co and Brushy Creek Coal Co. Mr. Martin was an avid Cardinals fan, and enjoyed fishing and entertaining with his long stories. He never met a stranger or forgot a friend.
