James LeRoy Porky Lowrance
MARION-James LeRoy Porky Lowrance, 74, of Marion passed away at 6:59 PM, Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the home of his son.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 4, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with the VFW Post 1301 Ritual Team officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM, until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. James was born August 28, 1935 in Marion to Lee Roy and Myrtle Dean (Durham) Lowrance. He married Beverly Burnett on December 30, 1956 in Johnston City; she preceded him in death on May 6, 2003.
Survivors include son, Neal Lowrance of Herrin; daughter, Kim Lowrance and fiancé, Barry Baker; grandchildren, Cody Lowrance and Rachel Lowrance; and great grandson, Taylor Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant daughter, Dena; granddaughter, and Brittany Lowrance.
James retired from Ziegler #4 Coal Mine in Johnston City. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1301, and a member of the Marion Elks and the Marion Eagles.
