James A. "Catfish" Choate

Marion- James A. “Catfish” Choate, 71, of Marion, passed away at 6:10 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at his home.       James was born on February 23, 1945 in Tunnel Hill to Levi and Marie (Boner) Choate.        He formerly worked at Sambo’s Truck stop in Marion.       He was a member of Scottsboro Church of God.  Catfish enjoyed sitting on his porch or in his car people watching or riding his bike around town.        Survivors include-       Son- Jeff Choate of West Frankfort   Granddaughter- Cristy Choate of Pinckneyville   2 great grandchildren   Sister- Barbara Boles of Marion   Sister- Ruby Tatum of Louisiana   Brother- John Choate and wife Darlene of Marion   Brother- Allen Choate and wife Kim of Creal Springs   Sister- Shirley Rose Green of Creal Springs   Numerous nieces and nephews   Close friend- Nettie of Marion       He was preceded in death by his parents and 14 brothers and sisters.       A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Marion Full Gospel Tabernacle Church/ 301 West DeYoung/ Marion, IL   62959.  Pastor John Burnett will officiate.  Inurnment will be held at a later date at Mt.
