Jacob Vaughn Cato MARION-Jacob Vaughn Cato, 17, of Marion passed away at 3:30 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2008 in Calvert City, Kentucky as the result of an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Andrew Jones and Reverend Keith Heberer officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery in Goreville. Memorials may be made to the Jamal Monyea medical fund; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Jacob was born on January 29, 1991 in Oxnard, California to Jerry L. and Joyce A. (Henshaw) Cato. Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Joyce Cato of Marion; sister and brother-in-law, Nicki and Toby Holmes of Kingsland, Georgia; niece, River Holmes; nephew, Brooks Holmes; sister, Stacy Cato of Marion; paternal grandmother, Joyce Cato of Marion; maternal grandparents, Georgia Henshaw of Carbondale and Everett, Jr. and Connie Henshaw of Marion; maternal great grandmother, Roethe; aunts, Sue Frey and Nikki Meracle; uncles and aunts, Gary and Shannon Cato and Kip and Susan Mandrell; and several cousins. Jacob was a senior at Marion High School. He had started a “Skate” Church Group with 5 members; the group would first have Bible study and then go skateboarding. The group grew to a large following and they moved their meetings to the Little Chapel Church in Harrisburg, where Jacob was recently baptized. He was a member of a Christian Rock Band, “James the Great” and had been skateboarding since the age of 5. He lived his life for God, family, skateboarding and music.
