Irene Jurewicz

Palos Park-Irene Jurewicz, 95, formerly of Marion, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Irene was born in Chicago on October 7, 1918 to Albert and Mary (Ostrowski) Gierut; beloved sister of Stanley Gierut. She married Alex Jurewicz on October 14, 1939 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1996. Survivors include son, Ray Jurewicz; daughter, Marcie (Roger) Soprych; grandchildren Brian (Jamie) Soprych, Todd (Becky) Soprych, and Scott Soprych; great-grandhildren, Parker, Hudson, and Ella. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 9am until the time of service at the church. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Irene and family respectfully request donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church for masses and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959.
