Irene Herring

Irene M. Herring MARION-Irene M. Herring, 83, of Marion went peacefully to be with her Lord at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her three sons. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Irene was born September 24, 1925 in Stonefort to Roy and Lela (Williams) Whipple. She married Edward “Ed” Herring March 25, 1960; he preceded her in death on April 3, 2005. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, William and Jewell Whitlock, Rick and Pam Herring and Jeff Herring all of Marion; grandchildren, Ronnie Whitlock, Jerry Whitlock, William Scott Whitlock, Richard Herring currently stationed in Afghanistan, Cassie and Adam Gossett, Michael Herring and Kaitlyn Herring; great grandchildren, Ashley Whitlock, A.J. Whitlock, Amber Whitlock, Dakota Whitlock, Kaylee Whitlock, Corey Whitlock, Jade Whitlock, Arianna Whitlock and Cameron Gossett; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, “Little Bit”. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great grandchildren, Faith and Hope Whitlock; and sisters, Lucille Heltsley and Alice Choate. Irene had strong Christian beliefs. She was always praying for other people. She had a heart of gold and was an inspiration to all. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking.
