Hugh O. Hiller GOREVILLE-Hugh O. Hiller, 83, of Goreville passed away at 8:58 AM, Friday, April 20, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Goreville United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim Woodard and Reverend Alan Milligan officiating. Blue Funeral Home in Goreville is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, April 23, 2007 at the church. Burial will be at Lipe Cemetery in Makanda. Memorials may be made to Goreville United Methodist Church building fund, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes will be available at the church or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Hiller was born April 11, 1924 in Carbondale, Illinois to Elmer and Susye (Miller) Hiller. He married Betty Jean Crawshaw on February 14, 1943 at Union Hill Christian Church in Carbondale; she preceded him in death on September 6, 2006. Survivors include his children, Jeannie Cook of Goreville, Howard and Theresa Hiller of Fair Play, South Carolina, Mary and Burle Osterhout of Vienna, Carol and Wendell Loban of Coldsprings, Texas and Jonathan Hiller of Anna; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nephew, Howard Stover of California; nieces, Merry Beth Stover of Michigan and Rebecca Baugh of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Bert Hiller; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Fern Hiller; and sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Howard Stover. Mr. Hiller was a member of Goreville United Methodist Church and longtime Sunday School Teacher and Music Director. He was employed at Southern Illinois University for 27 years. He was a past member of the Goreville and Shawnee Community College School Boards. He enjoyed gardening, cattle and bird watching.
