Hilda A. Burns MARION-Hilda Anna Burns, 87, of Athens, Alabama, formerly of Marion passed away at 4:45 AM, Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Pat Driskell officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, January 2, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Davis Prairie Cemetery east of Marion. Mrs. Burns was born February 14, 1921 in Marion, Illinois to William and Clara (Rowcamp) Vogt. She married John W. Burns on June 24, 1942, in Jackson, Missouril; together they shared 65 years of marriage until John’s death on January 24, 2008. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Norma and James Edwards of Rogersville, Alabama; granddaughter and husband, Tammy Jean and John McArthur; great-grandchild, Sean Allen McArthur; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John; infant son, Mitchell Wayne Burns; brother, Edwin Vogt; sisters, Linda Hunter and Frieda Kunkel; nephew, whom they raised, William E. Kunkel. Mrs. Burns was a homemaker who loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
