Herman E. Trimm
MARION-Herman E. Trimm, 84, of Marion, passed away at 12:20 PM, Saturday, July 3, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Randy Allison officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Herman was born July 15, 1925 in Avery, Texas to Vester Ernest and Ina Rebecca (Tisdale) Trimm. He married Melba Scarbrough on June 7, 1945 in Idabel, Oklahoma; together they shared 65 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife Melba Trimm of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and James Hilliard of Marion; daughter, Kim DeFrank of Marion; grandchildren, James Devin and Daphyne Hilliard, Jennifer and Shane Russell and Nick DeFrank; great grandchildren, Ryan Hilliard and Ashley Hilliard; brother and sister-in-law, Joe W. and Ann Trimm; sister, Mary Ruth McDougald; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Sam DeFrank; and brother, James Trimm.
Herman was a member of Heartland Christian Church. He formerly worked for the United States Penitentiary system; retiring in Marion after several years of service. He later worked and retired from Wal-Mart. He served his country with the United States Navy during World War II and Korean Conflict. He was a member of VFW Post 1301 and past member and past president of the Kiwanis Club.
