Herbert Weiss MARION–Herbert Weiss, 88, of Winchester, Kentucky formerly of Marion passed away at 4:51 PM, Friday, August 8, 2008 at Clark Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Edward “Shorty” Alsip officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Mr. Weiss was born on December 13, 1919 in Herrin, Illinois to Clyde and Emily (Gunn) Weiss. He married Rosa Lee Weiss and she preceded him in death, he later married Jena Sue Bloodworth and she also preceded him in death. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and David Bierley of Winchester, Kentucky; and brother, Ronald Weiss of Granite City. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; and brother, George Weiss. Mr. Weiss was a member of Second Baptist Church in Marion. He previously worked for the Seiler Instrument Company in St. Louis, Missouri and was the company’s first retiree. He later owned Weiss Jewelry Store. He was a life member of Marion Masonic Lodge 89 AF & AM, past member of the Professional Engineers Association and honorary member of the Illinois Surveyors Association.
