Helen Droge

Marion Helen L. Droge, 88, of Marion passed way at 11:05 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2012 in Herrin Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM in Rose Hill Cemetery with Reverend Marlin Otte officiating. Memorial donations are suggested to either the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Helen was born to Charles & Selma (Tempke) Brown in Ullin on Monday, September 24, 1923. She married Billy Droge on Saturday, December 6, 1941 and he preceded her in death on Monday, March 26, 2001; just shy of their 60th anniversary. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy and daughter, Donna Coonrod. She is survived by a large loving family: children, James D. Droge of Murphysboro, Mike & Ginger Droge, Cathy & Dale Frey and Penny & Dale Phillips (all of Marion); grandchildren, Sheila Meyer, Stacey & Kent Thomas, Derrick & Jamie Droge, Jerod Frey, Lori & Laben Roth, Jamie Droge, Ryan Phillips, Nick Frey, Jenny Droge and Logan Phillips; 7 great-grandchildren. Helen was home maker of Lutheran Faith. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and the art of quilt making. She especially loved spending time with her family, namely the many grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
