Hazel Beatrice Russell GOREVILLE-Hazel Beatrice Russell, 85, of Goreville passed away at 6:20 AM, Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Brother Dink Phelps officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 8, 2010 at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee. Hazel was born July 14, 1924 in Johnson County to Thomas Monroe and Daisy Mae (Henderson) Stewart. She married John H. Russell on January 9, 1947 in Steger; he preceded her in death on November 2, 1989. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Hilda Russell; grandchildren, Michael J. and Tammie Green, Tracey Russell and Charlie Russell; great grandchildren, Luke and Jenna Green; sister and brother-in-law, Ludean and Bob Pearce; and brother, Glen Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Diana Mae Russell; sisters, Helen Billingsley and Sybil Westerfield; four infant sisters; and brothers, Lyndal, Ivan, Virgil and Lowell Stewart. Hazel enjoyed attending Hickory Grove Christian Church and spending time with her family. She formerly worked in Quality Control at Abbott Laboratories.
