Harry L. Kesler
MARION-Harry L. Kesler, 89, of Marion passed away at 4:16 PM, Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Paul Langan officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard at the funeral home after the funeral service. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the V.A. Nursing Home; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Harry was born September 12, 1920 in Marion to Herman Lester and Eva Boyer (Thompson) Kesler. He married Marjorie Parks and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Scott McCree and Jane and Ron Vaughn all of Marion; grandchildren, Shelly and Kevin Dunaway, Lisa and Walter Skeate, Blake Vaughn and Amanda Vaughn; and great grandchildren, Ally Ann Dunaway, Jake Hunter Dunaway and Emma Kay Skeate.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great grandson, Walter Lukas Skeate; sister, Maxine Sherertz; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mae and Ford Peebels.
Harry was a member of Warder Street Baptist Church. He formerly owned and operated Marion Auto Body Shop. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1301, member of the American Legion Post 147, the DAV and was a long-time volunteer at the Marion VA Hospital.
