Harriet A. “Squirt” Avery BUNCOMBE-Harriet A. “Squirt” Avery, 79, of Buncombe formerly of Chicago Heights passed away at 7:15 PM, Sunday, February 19, 2006 at the home of her daughter. Memorial services will be held at 1100 AM, Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Chicago Heights with Reverend Delmar Meester officiating. Blue Funeral Home in Goreville is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Avery was born on April 27, 1926 in Kasota, Minnesota to Harry and Ann (Lundquist) Kirby. She married Bud Avery in 1971; he preceded her in death in 1978. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Keith Hanks of Buncombe; granddaughter, Brianna Sobota of Chula vista, California; step-son, Bob Avery of Minnesota; step-son and wife, Darryl and Pat Avery of Wisconsin; brother, Charles Kirby of St. Cloud, Minnesota; brother and sister-in-law, Mert and Elaine Kirby of St. Peter, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Maurice Kirby; and sister, Alice Angel. Mrs. Avery was a longtime employee of Dino’s Food and Liquors. She was an avid Cubs Fan and she loved her dog Maxie.
