Harold Dees MARION-Harold Dees, 77, of Marion passed away at 1:55 AM, Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Fountain Nursing Home in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Paul Tirey officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Dees was born January 23, 1930 in Red Bay, Alabama to Charles David and Ruby Deverline (Spencer) Dees. He married Katherine Connell on July 6, 1952 in Piggott, Arkansas; together they shared 55 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Katherine of Marion; daughters and son-in-law, Rhonda and Bruce Artwick and Darla Dees all of Mahomet; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Cathy Dees of Champaign, Keith and Sue Dees of St. Joseph and Samuel and Paula Dees of Danville; grandchildren, Aaron and Michelle Cohen, Carrie and Brian Ekmark, Daniel and Heather Cohen, Colin Artwick, Travis Harold Dees and Joy Scrogum, Sara Jane and Jon Beld, Jonas Dees, Jared Dees, Nichole and Andy Miller, Chad Piolitti, Nina Piolitti and Ava Brown, Dustin Dees, Joshua Dees, Cody Dees, and Jessica and Rob Leek; and great grandchildren, Kathryn and Charles Ekmark, Lucus Cohen, Nate Beld, Sidney Beld, Ellie Dees, Ronnie Dees, Ian Miller, Ryan Miller and Michael Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Harold Louis Dees and Ronald Eugene Dees; brothers, Chester Dees and Robert Louis Maxwell; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ethel and Alex Connell. Mr. Dees was a member of the United Missionary Baptist Church. He worked as a building contractor in Champaign for 20 years. He loved fishing, hunting, playing golf and bowling. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and will be missed by all.
