Harold Dean Pulley Herrin-Harold Dean Pulley, 78, of Herrin, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 1:30 PM at his home with his wife Thelma by his side. Memorial services to honor Mr. Pulley’s life will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Memorial donations are suggested to TIP Hospice; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Dean was born on Sunday, June 11, 1933 in Williamson County to Guy & Sylvia (Atwood) Pulley, Sr. He married Thelma Parks on Tuesday, June 9, 1953 in Pocahontas, Ark; they had recently celebrated their 58th anniversary. He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma of Herrin; children, Debbie & Jim Blythe, Pamela Butler and Lisa & Rick Murray; grandchildren, Gabe & Cathy Blythe, Lori & Brian Smith, Travis & Kelly Murray and Kyle Murray; great-grandchildren, Macie, Marshall, Leioni, Hatcher, Myner Jane, Kaitlyn and Whitney; brothers, Weldon Pulley and Marvin & Vera Pulley; sisters, Margaret & Carl Patterson and Yvonne Adams. Dean was preceded by his parents; 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Mr. Pulley was a retired coal miner who worked at Old Ben #25 for over 20 years, where he was known by his work-mates as “Weasel.” He had been a proud member of the UMWA for 33 years. Dean also worked as a “floor man”, uniquely designing ceramic showers and kitchen floors. He was a long time member of the NRA, an avid Cardinals fan and a former SGT in the US Army where he dutifully served in Iceland during the Korean Conflict. Dean loved his family and friends and will be missed by all.
