H. D. “Monty” Montgomery, Jr. MARION-H. D. “Monty” Montgomery, Jr., 81, of Marion passed away at 1:00 AM, Saturday, June 23, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 25, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Jeff Baker and Reverend Gordon Montgomery officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at McKinney Chapel Cemetery, south of Marion. Memorials may be made to Abundant Life Assembly of God building fund; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Montgomery was born May 9, 1926 in Williamson County, Illinois to Homas Duco, Sr. and Inez Lulu (Albright) Montgomery. He married Reba Hollis on January 10, 1943 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri; the Lord blessed them with 64 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Reba of Marion; daughters, Lois Douglas of Chrisman, Lyndia Niedermyer of Joliet and Tera Yoshimura of Houston, Texas; sons, Steve Montgomery of Morris and John Tracy Montgomery of Carl Junction, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Ross and Glenn Montgomery; and sister, Helena Robinson. Mr. Montgomery retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad after 30 years of service and later became a businessman. He received Jesus Christ as his savior in 1961 and was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Marion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and in his later years became an avid golfer.
