Marion- Greta Schoenenberger, 79, of Marion, passed away January 7th, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Mrs. Schoenenberger will be held on Thursday, January 12th at 2pm at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. There will be a visitation Wednesday, January 11th, from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home. Dr. Bob Dickerson and Dr. Aggott will officiate. Burial will follow at Tower Heights cemetery in West Frankfort. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home PO Box 411 Marion IL 62959. Mrs. Schoenenberger was born on January 13th, 1932 in West Frankfort, the daughter of Robert Semple and Juanita (Parkhurst) Semple. She married Robert Schoenenberger on June 14th, 1952 in Chicago and together they shared 57 years of marriage until his death on May 3rd, 2010. Survivors include daughters; Robbi Dawn DeWitt and Tammy Lynn Rutherford both of Marion; grandsons, Wesley Cameron Parkhurst and Stuart Wade Parkhurst; and sisters Candace Minton and Pamela Smithpeters. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and granddaughter Holly Beth DeWitt. Mrs. Schoenenberger was born and raised in West Frankfort, later moving to Chicago. She ultimately retired to Southern IL with her husband. She was a former member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Country Club Hills IL. She attended the 1st Baptist Church in Marion and was a Joy Singer. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
