MARION -- Gordon G. Davis, 80, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in Maplewood Cemetery in Marion with the Rev. R.H. Chitwood officiating. Inurnment will be after the services with military honors performed at the gravesite by members of VFW posts, American Legion and Illinois National Guard.

Gordon was born Jan. 18, 1933, in Williamson County to Gordon "Butch" and Lucille (Benard) Davis.
Survivors include his children, Doug Davis of Marion, Lynn Cox and husband, Michael, of Cambria and Shelly Tyner of Carterville; three grand-children, Zachary Cox and wife, Grace, Jacob Tyner and Jackie Tyner; sister, Nancy Derrington of Marion; and brother, John Gordon and wife, Margie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lav-elle; and son, Dale Gene Davis.
Gordon served eight years in the U.S. Air Force and was a jet mechanic during the Korean War.
He was a member of Local 318 and VFW.
Gordon always worked in construction and heavy equipment. He retired from Consol Burning Star No. 5 coal mine.
He believed in hard work and reaping the benefits from hard work, which he instilled in his children.
