Gloria “Dean” Violett MARION-Gloria “Dean” Violett, 80 of Marion passed away at 8:45 AM, Sunday, August 15, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Private graveside services will be held. In lieu of flowers Dean requested that memorials be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Dean was born on March 20, 1930 in Marion to Turner and Flora (Turner) Gulledge. She married Harold Violett on October 23, 1948 in Morganfield, Kentucky; together they shared almost 62 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband, Harold Violett of Marion; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and JoAnn Violett of Pittsburg; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Lisa Violett of Marion; grandsons, Ryan, Kyle and Jerod Violett; brother and sister-in-law, John and Linda Gulledge of Marion; niece and husband, Piper and Kevin Bragee of Marion; and numerous cousins. She was preceded by her parents. Dean was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed going to the Marion Senior Citizens Center, knitting, crocheting, her flowers and gardening.
