Gilbert J. Malacarne TUNNEL HILL-Gilbert J. Malacarne, 74, of Tunnel Hill passed away at 5:04 PM, Thursday, August 26, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend Howard Strunk officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bethlehem Gospel Mission Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Gospel Mission Church; envelopes are available through the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Gilbert was born September 28, 1935 in Belleville to Benvenvito & Elizabeth (Wagner) Malacarne. He married Jo Ann Froese on June 3, 1970 in Belleville. She survives of Tunnel Hill. Survivors include wife Jo Ann; children, Dawn & Pat Roush of Caseyville, Doug & Sandy Sanders of Swansea, and Al & Grace Sanders of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren, Brandy Stern, Thaddeus Roush, Olivia & Greg Cugier, Brennan Sanders, Kate & Lucus Schmid, Clayton Sanders, and Daisy Jasmine; great-grandchildren, Dylan Stern, Riley Sharp, Teagan Cugier, Quinn Cugier; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Malcolm Malacarne; and sister, Betty Wilson. Gilbert was a long time member of the Lake of Egypt Property Owners Association, a faithfull member of Bethlehem Gospel Mission Church, the current treasurer of Robinwoods third addition, and past president. He owned and operated Gil’s Automotive in Fairview Heights. He served in the United States Army. Gilbert was a past member of the DeMolay Society.
